I've always thought that liking sweets and chocolates was something that one LEARNS, not something that one is BORN with. I am very relieved to find out that this is true...at least in our family. Keira got to open her first chocloate lollipop and a regular lollipop and as you will see....it wasn't as big of a hit as one would think. Whew! Escaped that one for now!

Birthday fun
What a lovely evening my wonderful husband had planned today.
Whisked away in the middle of the afternoon by two friends to get a lovely spa treatment. Then to dinner at a swank little Chinese restaurant called Nodee. Great wine. Lots of laughter and good friends. What better way to spend your birthday?

Reading a good night story
Well, it's the second night for Keira in her own room in her own bed. Here's Per reading Keira a good night story before bed. So cute.

It has begun
Well, we've gone and done it. Or, actually, I should say that Per has now gone and done it. We bought Keira a toddler bed this weekend, Per installed in and she is now sleeping in it as I write this post at 8:15pm.
The nap was pretty uneventful, although she only slept for a little over an hour.
When she went to bed this evening, that pretty much happened without a big fight either...so far. It seems that she acts much better when her pappa takes her to bed than she does when I take her to bed. What is up with that?
I have to say that I haven't been very supportive of this initiative since I have been so extremely selfish and have enjoyed having her in the same bed as me. Per has enjoyed it too, although he complains about it. He says that she kicks him in the face all the time. Funny how I don't notice that. Ha! Ha!
We'll see how the night goes. She always cries out for mamma sometime in the night and she always wants to come and snuggle around 5'ish in the morning. So sad that I won't get to experience that anymore.
I've told Per that since he's taken this initiative, then every time she cries in the night..then he's the one that gets to get up to her. Otherwise, we all know how this is going to end up. I'll go in to her, she'll say mamma, I'll be so tired and want to be cozy with her that I will sweep her up in my arms and bring her to bed with us again...
:) Looking forward to the thought.

Wow.
Yepp. That sums it up in one word. WOW.
We went to dinner last night at a friend's house that we have seen in soooo long. And, in typical Norwegian fashion, this did not disappoint. When we entered the house, I could already tell that the hostess had spent a lot of time and effort in getting ready for this dinner party.
The table setting was so lovely - dressed in orange and grey with matching napkins - those napkins didn't come from Rema, I can tell you that.
We started with a lovely and delicate fish on top of a pepper root mash, served at the Swedish princess Victoria's wedding, then we moved to a roasted lamb with rosemary, garlic and other yummies which was served to the King and then a pannacotta with strawberry fill on top for dessert.
Here we are getting ready to leave for the party. All dressed up and someplace to go...
And no party is complete without dancing...

Reliving my childhood?
It's kind of funny now that we have Keira in our lives. I do things with her that I never got to do as a child. One of those things is watching Winnie the Pooh.
I used to think that Pooh was such a lame little character (keep in mind that I didn't know anything about Pooh because I'd never watched the film)...I just thought he was so sweet, and cute...and well, really, I was more into watching Speed Racer, the Flintstones, the Jetsons...oh...am I dating myself or what?
Just a couple of weeks ago, on a whim, I purchased the original Winnie the Pooh DVD in a grocery store because it was CHEAP. I think that it was only 89 NOK or something...vs. 199 NOK for a DVD. I wasn't exactly sure that Keira would like it, but hey, it was sitting there staring at me at the checkout counter and it was cheap, so why not?
I had very low expectations for the film. I mean, really, a yellow, fuzzy, dorky bear who was probably quite passive (which turned me off)..how exciting could this film be?
This film is a delight. It is creative, clever and entertaining. Keira watches it over and over and over again...and I have to admit, I am drawn into watching it with her. Everytime we watch it, I find little nuances and clever sayings which escaped me before. I get so tickled every time I find something new...it's like, why didn't I hear that before? isn't that cute? isn't that clever?
I highly recommend this film to all young kids. I was so enamored with this film that I even bought Tigger...and that film is just as clever as Winnine the Pooh.
TTFN (ta ta for now!)
